Board of Fisheries

The Board of Fisheries' main role is to conserve and develop the fishery resources of the state. The board is charged with making allocative decisions, and the department is responsible for management based on those decisions. Your presence and testimony in person or by letter is welcomed at Board of Fisheries public meetings. To view the current proposal booklet, meetings calendar and to submit a comment visit the Board of Fisheries page on Alaska Department of Fish and Game’s Website.

Local Legislature

Many policy decisions at the state level have the potential to affect our ability to provide access to jobs and food for Alaskans in the fishing industry. You can contact you local or state legislature at any time to express your opinions on fishery related issues in Alaska. Elected officials encourage the public to express their concerns and it is your right as an Alaskan resident to do so.
